The Syrian government was backed by Russia and Iran with military support. While the rebels were backed by the United States and their allies. The reason for these people fleeing Haiti is because of recent developments here. In 2021 a group of armed men from a gang took out the president. Following that the country collapsed into chaos. Basic government functions shut down and widespread gang violence rose. Over this past year in 2023 gang violence sored by 80% in their capital city where gangs control 60% of the territory.
