| Video Discription | Punjab Police on March 18 launched a state-wide cordon and search operations against elements of ‘Waris Punjab De’. A total of 78 people were arrested and several others were detained for questioning. Several others including Amritpal Singh are on the run, a massive manhunt has been launched to nab them. Amid all this, Amritpal Singh’s links with Pakistan’s ISI have come to the fore. Security agencies have been keeping a close watch on the activities of Amritpal Singh since his arrival in Punjab last year. A source informed that Amritpal Singh was in touch with Jaswant Singh Rode while he was in Dubai. Jaswant is the brother of Lakhbir Singh Rode- a militant and chief of Pakistan-based ‘International Sikh Youth Federation’. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had also referred to Amritpal’s link with Pakistan. Intelligence agencies are also keeping a close watch on Punjab Police’s operations. A senior official said that the state had sought several companies of Paramilitary forces to maintain law and order. We are keeping a close watch on the situation unfolding in Punjab. Intelligence Bureau (IB), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), and other agencies are on their toes and regularly updating regarding the situation in Punjab,” a Senior Official informed. Amritpal Singh has been in the eye of the storm ever since the Ajnala incident sent shockwaves across Punjab. He has been accused of fueling Khalistani sentiment as he explicitly demands a separate nation. Earlier, Lt Gen Retd. Kuldip Brar had warned about the increasing footprint of Khalistan and Pakistan’s involvement in it. Former Pro-Khalistan leader also recently warned of Amritpal’s links with ISI.
