Cooked rice , chammanthi (coconut , chilly paste) pickle, sometimes fried fish and some semidry vegetables all wrapped up in bannana leaves and tied with some Twain and plenty Love.. But more than this explanation to a malayali A “ pothichoru” is much much more than that. It's bunch of nostalgic memories , mother's love, and our source of energy to take us through the afternnon. This was when the idea or originators Uber eats or swiggy was not even born.Not many restaurants around and not affordable to most. The good old memories makes us drool even now. Times changed, mother's role was taken over by wife's, bannana leaves mainly existed in pictures and memories for the nuclear families. Pothichoru became fashionable and they graciously withdrew from the scene. Commercial versions of pothichoru is available today from takeways etc.They mainly sell cashing on our nostalgic memories ,affordability and rarely taste. |
