| Video Discription | @AirwayOnDemand presents a difficult airway case. This patient had a history of chondrosarcoma. There was significant narrowing on CT. The patient underwent awake intubation. Though a 5.2 od scope could be passed into the larynx and trachea, the mounted ETT (6.5 OD) would not pass. This might be do to hang-up phenomena, but the fit between the FIS and ETT allowed for minimal gap. A small FIS was not chosen because the small FIS would not have the longitudinal strength to guide the ETT pass the obstruction. Eventually the patient underwent inhalation induction / apneic intubation (see other AOD videos) with a hyperangulated video laryngoscope and 6.0 id ETT with a rigid stylet. |
