We went to the ground to understand the reality of the 'Biggest Funded' Women-Centric Scheme of Assam Government - Orunodoi. We went to Mangaldai area of Darrang District in Assam. Inside the Outala Panchayat, we visited two villages - Durgagaon (Hindu-Dominated) and Besimari (Muslim-Dominated) to find out the impact of the 'branded' Women-Centric Scheme of the Assam Government. Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma after assuming the office, introduced the 'Orunodoi' Scheme - in a way to provide a minimum financial assistance to the women belonging to the poor section of the society. The scheme is Assam's Biggest DBT (Direct Bank Transfer) Scheme, spending approx. Rs. 4,140-crores every year, benefitting over 27-lakh women. The Government pays Rs. 1,250 to each of these women every month. In this Documentary Podcast, we look to uncover the GROUND REALITY of how this scheme has effected the life of these women.
