Remember – we spend a lot of time at work, and it is only natural that you want that time spent to be productive and enjoyable.
REASON #3 – The company was going through a restructuring.
This happens all the time, and leaving a job for this reason is perfectly valid. Say the company had changed direction and whilst you are supportive of change, you felt you wanted to go in a different direction.
REASON #4 – You want to work for a company where you will have more opportunities.
These opportunities could be to progress via promotion within the company, or the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects or tasks.
REASON #5 – There was nothing else new to learn.
You learned a tremendous amount in the position and the company was very supportive but you now want to learn new things because this will help you to progress personally and professionally.
REASON #6 – You want more responsibility!
This is a great reason to give for leaving a company.
You could say that you have spoken to your manager about being given more responsibility but none was available, so you decided to seek employment with a new company.
Say that you enjoy having responsibility and you want to feel you are contributing to an organization’s goals.
REASON #7 – You want a job that is aligned to your personal goals!
We all have goals we want to achieve outside of work. Whether it’s saving up to buy a house, or working towards getting married, you can only achieve your life goals if you have a job that helps you get there. Leaving a job to find work that enables you to reach your personal goals quicker, is a perfectly valid reason!
REASON #8 – You want a job closer to home.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to travel less. Not only does less travel reduce stress, it also saves you money, too. Therefore, saying you want to leave your job to get a position closer to home is perfectly acceptable.
REASON #9 – You want a job that offers more security.
You could say that in your current job there has been talk of restructuring and even potential redundancies. On that basis, you have been looking for a new job with an ambitious company where you will get to grow long-term with the team you are a part of.”
REASON #10 – You want to work for a company with a great reputation.
“Your company has a brilliant reputation and I would feel incredibly proud to work for you. The opportunities I would have whilst working here are very appealing and I would not hesitate in leaving my current job to work for you.”
