| Video Discription | this video demonstrates a step by step guide to performing ahmed clear path implantation using the taco technique, first described by Dr IP Singh. This is the first surgery in India using the taco technique for clear path implantation. the patient is a case of secondary open angle glaucoma following trauma.this is the patient's only seeing eye. he underwent vitrectomy along with IOL implantation 3 months prior to tube shunt procedure. the pre-op IOP was 65mmHg on maximum topical anti-glaucoma medications. preop vision was 6/60. he has advanced disc damage. the surgery was performed under mannitol cover. P.S. one suggestion i may like to add here is that in vitrectomised eyes undergoing tube shunt procedures, it is recommended to inject a little BSS in the vitreous cavity at the end of surgery or use anterior chamber maintainer throughout the surgery, in case of one chamber globe. make sure the eyeball is tight and the sclera is firm before concluding the case. this measure minimises the risk of hypotony. |
