Lion Hunting Zebra
Lions will take on prey more than twice their size. A full-grown zebra can weigh half a ton and can break a lion’s jaw with one kick. Lions are sprinters, not marathon runners, so they can hit 35 miles per hour, but only for a few seconds. They usually team up, approaching their prey from different angles, to raise the odds in their favor. One zebra violates the most important rule of always remaining with the herd, which allows one of the big cats to go for the typical deathblow, crushing the zebra’s windpipe, while the rest of the pride holds the animal down. After taking a feisty zebra down, a few lions hold the animal down, while one of them chokes it to death.
The other two lions begin to eat the zebra while it’s still alive and fighting to escape, but that’s not going to happen. When a lion attacks a herd of zebras, one of the zebras takes the rocky terrain and is slowed down because of the terrain, giving the lion an advantage and enough time to take the zebra down and make the kill. Lions typically stalk prey from nearby cover and then burst forth to run it down in a short, rapid rush. During a night hunt, the pride ambushes a zebra, and even though the zebra gives the feline a good fight, it’s not enough. This lioness took a zebra down in a waterhole and decided to kill it right there, in the water. Once the zebra was captured, the lioness delivered the final death blow.
Leopard Hunting Impala
Pula is the name of this leopard, and she is the ruler of the forest, the kingdom's beating heart. Her ripped ear was only one of a decade's worth of scars from wars lost and won. Pula, who was not born into royalty, has worked hard to establish her rule. Her achievement, though, is tainted by tragedy. She only has one living heir. This season could be her last chance to make a lasting impression. She'll be tough and prepared. The benefit of having a high viewpoint in paradise is that there is always a seat at the high table. This lowly-born woman's wealth is earned through sheer force of will. She keeps it with a strong grasp. Wildlife enthusiasts saw the leopard standing under a tree, so they decided to wait a few minutes before leaving to give others a chance to look. Their guide then saw the leopard going into stalking mode and crawling slowly toward the unexpected Impala a few meters away.
The leopard patiently waited until the antelopes got closer to make its move. When the two antelope males started a sparring match with their horns, the leopard attacked and caught one Impala totally off guard. Watch what happens when the Impala comes running full speed toward the leopard. A great collision in the air occurs, and it’s worthy of some of the best circus acts in the world, except one of the performers dies at the end, in this case, it’s the poor impala. Another display of immense athleticism can be seen in this video when a leopard flies as it jumps on an impala trying to escape along with the rest of the herd. This leopard stalks a few impalas, before killing one in a couple of seconds. It tries to carry its prey up a tree to keep it safe from scavengers and other predators, but the animal is too heavy for the colossal feline, so it consumes it on the ground. |
