| Video Discription | Today's Highlights: The murder toll now stands at 166 for the year thus far after Twelve (12) murders were recorded within the past five (5) days. (Friday 07th April, 2023 to Wednesday 12th April, 2023). A man identified as 48-year-old Rishard Ali was shot and killed outside his home at Biljah Road, Charlieville, Chaguanas on Wednesday 12th April, 2023. • Ali was reportedly shot by a gunman who attempted to rob him of his car along Biljah Road. • He was taken to the Chaguanas Health Centre where he was ****ounced dead. A man was gunned down near his home in Sangre Grande on Tuesday 11th April, 2023. • The deceased was identified as 37-year-old Brian Bennet of Sugars Lane in Sangre Grande. • Around 8:15pm, Bennet was liming with another person, when he reportedly walked away to urinate. • Shortly after, several loud explosions were heard and Bennet’s friend, fled the scene in fear. • Upon returning, the man discovered Bennett's lifeless body slumped next to an AD Wagon, covered in multiple gunshot injuries, and subsequently contacted the police. • The officers arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area and contacted the DMO who ordered the removal of the body pending a Post Mortem examination at the Forensic Science Centre in St James. • Personnel from the Special Evidence Recovery Unit (SERU) and Divisional Crime Scene Experts also visited the scene and recovered several spent shell casings, live rounds of ammunition, and marijuana. • While the officers do not have an official motive for the killing, it is suspected to be drug related. A woman identified as Chevelle Mitcham died after her vehicle crashed and overturned off the highway in Couva on Wednesday 12th April, 2023. • Mitcham was taken to the Couva District Health Facility by the Fire Service Emergency Response team but succumbed to her injuries while undergoing emergency surgery. (Pics) This was the 24th road fatality recorded for the year thus far. A Trinidad and Tobago national was killed in a car accident in New York on Tuesday 11th April, 2023. • The deceased victim was identified as 52-year-old Winston Ramdeen, who lived in Queen’s New York, and was originally from south Trinidad. • Ramdeen was among two killed in a wrong-way crash on the Belt Parkway in New York. • Ramdeen was reportedly driving a black Infiniti motor vehicle on the Westbound Lane in the wrong direction when he crashed into several vehicles before running into a Nissan Sentra head-on. • Ramdeen and the 79-year-old man driving the Sentra were taken to Brookdale Hospital where they were ****ounced dead. A Woman tried to commit suicide by jumping off a ledge at Mt. Hope Hospital on Monday 10th April, 2023. • Around 5:00am, the woman reportedly climbed out of the window the second storey of the Accident and Emergency building at Mt Hope when she became overwhelmed with her suicidal thoughts. • Dr. Edson Breedy, who was nearby when the incident unfolded, was praised for his quick response as he was able to talk the woman out of jumping from a window. • Breedy, who has been working with Mt Hope for the past three years, spoke to the woman for almost two hours and also used breathing exercises to calm her anxiety. • As she stood on the narrow concrete ledge, hospital staff placed mattresses on the ground to cover her fall and eventually Dr. Breedy was able to retrieve her. • The woman is currently warded and recovering at the hospital.
